26: The Sumo Association releases the banzuke for the spring grand sumo tournament in Osaka, the haru basho. The tournament will feature four faces at the second-highest rank of ōzeki , with newly promoted Kotonowaka joining Hōshōryū , Kirishima and demotion-threatened Takakeishō .
As honbasho results determine promotion and relegation on the banzuke, the first aim for most wrestlers is to achieve kachi-koshi, or a majority of wins, and thus ensure a promotion for the next tournament. A playoff on the final day is used to decide the winner in case of a tie.

His own stablemaster, Isegahama (former yokozuna Asahifuji ), is the head of the refereeing department and in charge of drawing up the rankings. [ 69 ]
