Roscoe is a hamlet (and census-designated place) in Sullivan County, New York, United States. The population was 497 at the 2020 census. Roscoe is in the southwest part of the town of Rockland, adjacent to New York State Route 17. It is named for New York Senator Roscoe Conkling. [2] Roscoe calls itself "Trout Town, USA."
The Catskill Fly Fishing Center and Museum is the home of The Fly Fishing Hall of Fame, The Demarest Rodmakers Gallery, The Poul Jorgensen Golden Hook Award, The Catskill Rodmakers Gathering, and The Hardy Cup. The area claims to be the "birthplace of fly-fishing in the United States" [6] largely because of trout fishing on the 27-mile (43 km)-long Willowemoc Creek. It flows between the village and Roscoe, where it intersects the Beaver Kill. The Catskill Fly Fishing Center and Museum is on the northern edge of the town on the Willowemoc Creek.
