The 22671/22672 Chennai Egmore–Madurai Junction Tejas Express is India's second semi-high speed Tejas Express introduced by Indian Railways connecting Chennai Egmore and Madurai Junction in Tamil Nadu, after Mumbai CSMT–Karmali Tejas Express. It is currently being operated with 22671/22672 train numbers on six days a week basis.
It operates as train number 22624 from Madurai Junction to Chennai Egmore and as train number 22623 in the reverse direction, serving the state of Tamil Nadu. It shares its rakes with 12651/12652 Tamil Nadu Sampark Kranti Express. From April 2021, it runs with brand new LHB rakes.
This train is operated by Indian Railways, connecting MGR Chennai Central, Salem Jn, Erode Jn, Tiruppur and Coimbatore Jn. It is currently operated with train numbers 20643/20644 on 6 days a week basis. [4] This train was flagged off by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on 8 April 2023. [5]
