SOHC design (for a 1973 Triumph Dolomite Sprint) . The oldest configuration of overhead camshaft engine is the single overhead camshaft (SOHC) design. [1] A SOHC engine has one camshaft per bank of cylinders, therefore a straight engine has a total of one camshaft and a V engine or flat engine has a total of two camshafts (one for each cylinder bank).
Early versions of the engine had a problem with sticking valves — far more evident in the UK (and in cold climates), where a driving style with earlier gear changes is more common than on the Continent — unless a special Ford formulation of oil was used. After small changes in 1995 to fix this problem the engine was known as the Zetec-E.
The Ford I4 DOHC engine is a cast iron block 4-cylinder inline internal combustion engine with twin overhead camshafts, produced by the Ford Motor Company at Dagenham Engine Plant. It was initially available as a 2.0-litre 8-valve version, and later in 2.0 and 2.3-litre 16-valve versions from 1989 to the end of production of the MK2 Ford Galaxy ...

A standard DOHC 16V version was used in the North American Focus producing 113 kW (151 hp; 153 PS) at 5750 rpm with 154 lb⋅ft (209 N⋅m) of torque at 4250 rpm. An iVCT (intake variable cam timing)-equipped DOHC 16V version was used in the 2006–2009 Ford Fusion/Mercury Milan, and several generations of CD2-based crossovers.
In 2002 a supercharged 1.0-litre 95 PS (70 kW; 94 hp) version was released for the Ford Fiesta, to compete with the 1.0 Turbo 16v 112 PS (82 kW; 110 hp) version of the Volkswagen Gol. In 2001 the Zetec RoCam engine was introduced in Europe, but labeled as Duratec 8v , for the Ka and Fiesta.
The HR13DDT is a 1.3 L (1,332 cc) all-aluminium direct injected and turbocharged straight-four engine equipped with lifetime timing chain, 16v DOHC, VVT, variable displacement oil pump, Stop-Start, regenerative braking, and Bore Spray Coating system (as installed in Nissan GT-R models), Bore: 72.2 mm (2.84 in), Stroke 81.3 mm (3.20 in). The 1991 to 1998 DOHC engine had an upper timing chain guide in between the camshaft sprockets. The timing chain was lubricated via cast-off from the top of the cylinder head and one 'squirter' on the oil pump housing. The SOHC, 1991-1998 DOHC, and 1999-2002 DOHC engines all used different timing chain sets.
