The subscription business model is a business model in which a customer must pay a recurring price at regular intervals for access to a product or service.The model was pioneered by publishers of books and periodicals in the 17th century, [1] and is now used by many businesses, websites [2] and even pharmaceutical companies in partnership with governments.
Most of these, however, are for-profit commercial enterprises neither owned nor controlled by members. London examples include the Groucho Club (established in 1985), [4] Soho House (1995) [5] and Home House (1998); [6] similar clubs operate in other cities and countries: for example, the CORE Club was established in New York City in 2005.
