This segment of SR 159 is known on maps and signs as Blue Diamond Road (assuming the name from SR 160), but is also referred to as Red Rock Canyon Road. As SR 159 enters the city of Las Vegas, it transitions into Charleston Boulevard, a major east–west section line arterial bisecting the Las Vegas Valley.
Before reaching Sedona, SR 89A provides access to Red Rock State Park. The route remains a divided highway until it reaches Sedona, an arts and resort community known for its red sandstone formations. [5] As it enters the city of Sedona, the route is known as the Si Birch Memorial Highway.
The three routes are then co-signed in the Las Vegas Valley and east of Henderson, I-11 is co-signed with US 93/95 for its entire route around the eastern Las Vegas Valley. I-11 continues through a Spaghetti junction known as the Henderson Spaghetti Bowl or Hender-Bender interchange of Interstate 215 and SR 564 .
The highway has major junctions with U.S. Route 93 (US 93; the main highway connecting Phoenix and Las Vegas, Nevada) in Kingman and again approximately 22 miles (35 km) to the east and I-17 (the freeway linking Phoenix to northern Arizona) in Flagstaff. For the majority of its routing through Arizona, I-40 follows the historic alignment of US 66.

U.S. Route 89A is a 91.74-mile (147.64 km) north–south auxiliary U.S. highway (though its actual direction of travel is more east–west) in southwestern Kane County, Utah and northeastern Coconino County, Arizona in the southwestern United States.
A 19-mile (31 km) concurrency with U.S. Route 95 between Las Vegas and Alunite was added in 1940, when that highway was extended through southern Nevada along State Route 5. [ 10 ] The first major shift of US 93 occurred in 1967, when a new highway connection was completed between US 91 (now I-15) and a point 24 miles (39 km) northwest of Glendale.

The primary purpose of this route is to carry traffic to Bullhead City and Laughlin, Nevada.Since September 11, 2001, the highway had also composed part of the mandatory detour for trucks and recreational vehicles traveling between Arizona and Las Vegas, Nevada via US 93, due to the heavy vehicle restrictions over Hoover Dam.
