Landshut (German: [ˈlantshuːt] ⓘ; [3] Bavarian: Landshuad) is a town in Bavaria in the south-east of Germany. Situated on the banks of the River Isar , Landshut is the capital of Lower Bavaria , one of the seven administrative regions of the Free State of Bavaria.
Bavaria-Landshut was then the richest part of Bavaria, also due to the mining in Rattenberg and Kitzbühel and the most modern administration. The seat of the dukes was the Trausnitz Castle in Landshut until 1475, when they moved to the second residence at Burghausen Castle .
