Haran or Aran (Hebrew: הָרָן Hārān) [1] is a man in the Book of Genesis in the Hebrew Bible. [2] He was a son of Terah, brother of Abraham, and father of son Lot and daughters Milcah and Iscah. He died in Ur of the Chaldees. Through Lot, Haran was the ancestor of the Moabites and Ammonites.
Nahor married the daughter of his brother Haran, Milcah, his niece . They may all have been born and raised in the city of Ur: the biblical account states that "Haran died before his father Terah in the land of his birth, in Ur of the Chaldeans" (Genesis 11:28). In the King James Version, Nahor is also referred to as Nachor (Joshua 24:2).
