The precision is 1 (1 decimal place), and units are abbreviated and linked. {{convert|895|hPa|psi inHg atm mbar|1|abbr=on|lk=on}} → 895 hPa (13.0 psi ; 26.4 inHg ; 0.9 atm ; 895.0 mbar ) It is preferable to use "+" to separate output units when the first unit uses engineering notation; that avoids looking up the unit in Module:Convert/extra .
Comparison of 1 square foot with some Imperial and metric units of area. The square foot (pl. square feet; abbreviated sq ft, sf, or ft 2; also denoted by ' 2 and ⏍) is an imperial unit and U.S. customary unit (non-SI, non-metric) of area, used mainly in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Bangladesh, India, Nepal, Pakistan, Ghana, Liberia, Malaysia, Myanmar, Singapore and Hong Kong.
Conversion of units is the conversion of the unit of measurement in which a quantity is expressed, typically through a multiplicative conversion factor that changes the unit without changing the quantity. This is also often loosely taken to include replacement of a quantity with a corresponding quantity that describes the same physical property.
The foot (standard symbol: ft) [1] [2] is a unit of length in the British imperial and United States customary systems of measurement. The prime symbol, ′, is commonly used to represent the foot. [3] In both customary and imperial units, one foot comprises 12 inches, and one yard comprises three feet.
Every unit of length has a corresponding unit of area, namely the area of a square with the given side length. Thus areas can be measured in square metres (m 2 ), square centimetres (cm 2 ), square millimetres (mm 2 ), square kilometres (km 2 ), square feet (ft 2 ), square yards (yd 2 ), square miles (mi 2 ), and so forth. The unit prefixes are always considered to be part of the unit, so that, e.g., in exponentiation, 1 km 2 means one square kilometre, not one thousand square metres, and 1 cm 3 means one cubic centimetre, not one hundredth of a cubic metre. In general, prefixes are used with any metric unit, but may also be used with non-metric units.
