Grace Patricia Kelly (November 12, 1929 – September 14, 1982), also known as Grace of Monaco, was an American actress and Princess of Monaco as the wife of Prince Rainier III from their marriage on April 18, 1956, until her death in 1982.
Rainier was, at the time of their engagement, the Prince of Monaco, having ascended to the throne in May 1949, while Grace Kelly was an American actress who starred in several significant films in the 1950s, such as Rear Window (1954) with James Stewart and The Country Girl (1954) with Bing Crosby, for which she won the Academy Award for Best Actress.
Grace Kelly became a princess when she wed Prince Rainier III of Monaco in 1956. Their royal wedding was spectacular, from her dress to their honeymoon yacht.

Later that year, the 26-year-old Kelly retired from acting, to marry Prince Rainier III of Monaco, becoming the princess of Monaco.
The two had three children and Kelly was clearly born for Princess status. Sadly, Princess Grace Kelly of Monaco died at the age of 53, a day after a stroke caused her to crash her car.
