QGis (full name: Quantum GIS) is a GPL license, cross-platform (Windows, Linux, Mac), and rather friendly cartographic software application. It is a Geographic Information System (GIS) program you can use to create, view, and analyze maps.
QGIS display your data using the projection you tell it to use. By default, the lat/long projection (= Equirectangular projection , example aside) is used, code: WGS84 lat/lon (EPSG:4326) . This projection is the most convenient for georeferencing, but imply strong distortions at polar latitudes.
Select Add a Pushpin and save it. Several icons are found to the lower left of the map, including a star for "My Places" and also an email icon. Click the Star to open "My Places". Select the most recent place which you have just saved. Click the email icon. The geographical coordinates are embedded in the email link which is then displayed.
By adding coordinates, a Wikipedia reader can easily view the location on a street map, nautical chart, topographic map, by satellite photo, realtime weather map, and many other options. Coordinate data makes an article eventually appear in various services such as Google Maps Wikipedia overlay, Google Earth , Copernix.io and Wikimedia's map ...
Find and mark location coordinates. Measure distance, perimeter, and area. Change the coordinate system and measurement units. Copy location coordinates to the clipboard, and then use them to show locations in several web mapping services. Register a raster image to create a geospatially aware PDF.
In geodesy, geographic coordinate conversion is defined as translation among different coordinate formats or map projections all referenced to the same geodetic datum. [1] A geographic coordinate transformation is a translation among different geodetic datums. Both geographic coordinate conversion and transformation will be considered in this ...
C, F are translation terms: x, y map coordinates of the center of the upper-left pixel E is negative of y-scale: dimension of a pixel in map units in y-direction. The y-scale (E) is negative because the origins of an image and the UTM coordinate system are different. The origin of an image is located in the upper-left corner, whereas the origin ...
The QGis mapcolor files page already has some palettes you can copy, save as .qml, and use.. Save your first color style .qml file Done — section updated (2012/01). Copy-paste the following color code in an empty, plain text document (using something like Notepad or TextEdit), then save it in ./QGis/Mapcolors/ as Wikicarto_2.0.qml (the palette's name + .qml).
