The 2020 Indian Premier League final was played on 10 November 2020 between the Mumbai Indians and the Delhi Capitals at Dubai International Cricket Stadium, Dubai. It was a Day/Night Twenty20 match, which decided the winner of 2020 season of the Indian Premier League (IPL), an annual Twenty20 tournament in India. [ 1 ]
IPL was established in 2008 [6] and currently consists of ten teams in ten cities across India. The inaugural IPL season was won by Rajasthan Royals . [ 10 ] As of 2024 [update] , there have been seventeen seasons of the IPL tournament.
On 2 August 2020, it was announced that the tournament would be played between 19 September and 10 November 2020 in the United Arab Emirates.The tagline was Ab Khel bolega: (Now game will speak.) [2] [3] [4] On 4 August 2020, Vivo pulled out as the title sponsor of the Indian Premier League (IPL) for the 2020 edition.
The 2022 season of the IPL offered total prize money of ₹ 46.5 crore (equivalent to ₹ 49 crore or US$5.8 million in 2023), with the winning team netting ₹ 20 crore (equivalent to ₹ 21 crore or US$2.5 million in 2023) and the second-placed team ₹ 13 crore (equivalent to ₹ 14 crore or US$1.6 million in 2023).
Mumbai Indians entered the IPL 2020 auction with a purse of 13.05 crores INR. However, with an extremely strong core, the team hardly had any of the bases uncovered. Yet, MI went on to purchase Chris Lynn, who was released last year by Kolkata Knight Riders, for the base price of 2CR INR and Aussie Nathan Coulter-Nile for a whopping 2CR INR.
