Vermont Route 244 (VT 244) is a state highway located within Orange County, Vermont, United States. The route runs from VT 113 in Thetford to U.S. Route 5 (US 5) in Fairlee . The highway is 5.640 miles (9.077 km) long and provides access to the Post Mills Airport from Interstate 91 (I-91) and US 5 .

Fairlee is the primary village and a census-designated place (CDP) in the town of Fairlee, Orange County, Vermont, United States. As of the 2020 census, it had a population of 198 [2] out of 988 in the entire town of Fairlee. The CDP is on the eastern edge of Orange County, in the southeastern part of the town of Fairlee.
It was first settled in 1766. On February 25, 1797, the western half of the grant was set off as West Fairlee. The population was 575 by 1859, when it had several sawmills, a gristmill, and an establishment for lead pipe and pumps. [6] The Fairlee Railroad Depot was built in 1848 by the Connecticut & Passumpsic Rivers Railroad.
The town also sent men from Company A of the 15th Vermont Infantry Regiment, which was organized in West Fairlee in 1862. West Fairlee was the summer residence of Nobel-winning economist Milton Friedman, which he named "Capitaf." [citation needed] It was here that he and his wife, Rose Friedman wrote the 1980 bestselling book, Free to Choose.
