Elden Pueblo, originally known as Pasiwvi ("Pah-see-'oo-vi") by the Native-American Hopi tribe, was an ancient village inhabited by the Hopi's from 1070 AD to 1275 AD. Euro-Americans arrived in the area in the 1870s and named the nearby mountain Elden Mountain. after John Elden, a sheepherder.
