    Will only work if it a path that is known to Google. As in while connected you can 'obtain' the directions to get started. Then will continue to work offline. If can't get directions along the route, can draw it in My Maps. Then load it in My Maps app on mobile. It will stay working offline, although the offline support is not a robust.
