I would suggest combining Austria (Christmas market in Vienna, Salzburg, lovely Alpine villages) and Slovenia (Lake Bled is supposed to be beautiful in winter) They should be prepared that mid-December might not mean snow to decorate those places. It is increasingly hit and miss before January.
I've been to every country in Europe. Here are my favorite cities (in no particular order): Barcelona, London, Paris, Prague, Budapest, Rome, Florence, Istanbul, Moscow. For your trip, you could split your time between Paris and London and do some day trips. If you wanted to add in another country, you could do London for 5ish days, Paris for ...
Amsterdam: Some of the friendliest people in all of Europe (the Irish are friendlier) and very civil. University feeling with progressive views and outlooks while also adhering to old world traditions and generations. Accessible by foot and bike, a car is almost impractical. 4th Place: Majorca, Spain.
Redditors seem to have a variety of preferences when it comes to the best places to visit in Europe. Some prefer historical sites and cities like Rome, Barcelona, and Granada, while others recommend more budget-friendly options like Spain, Montenegro, and Lisbon. Nature enthusiasts might enjoy Switzerland, but it is noted to be quite expensive.
Only some places like the Balkans have some annoying/limited infrastructure and such to deal with. For a unique experience: Iceland is a great place to visit in March if you're looking for something a little different. For a springtime escape: The Netherlands is famous for its tulips, and the best time to see them in bloom is in March. Whatever your interests, there's bound to be a destination in Europe that's ideal for you to visit in March.
Spain is the best study destination. It is considered throughout the world. According to the QS World University Rankings, In each year the global ranking of most Spanish universities increases, and recently, 5 Spanish universities maintain their ranks among the top 250 universities throughout the world.
Paris: So much to do there. I've been many times and still have plenty of places there that I want to visit. London: Ditto, and also the great theater shows. Rome: I was in awe of the history there. Also great food. Rotterdam: I love all the Dutch cities I've been to, but Rotterdam is pretty unique in Europe thanks to its modern architecture.
Vienna is about 30% lower cost-wise compared to say Paris. A bonus is most Viennese speak excellent English and are polite. It was the friendliest city we went to in Europe. City residents went out of their way to help us or invited us to join their table in a crowded restaurant.
Need some help. Going to Europe in June. We have only been to Paris before. But this time, we want to explore, visiting at most 3-4 countries in a 9-day period. My idea is to visit the best places in Italy and then, perhaps, take a scenic train or bus to reach Zurich before heading to Berlin. Is this a good choice for an 8-9 day visit?
