The two positions it calls for mounting on the Remington 14 and 141 are F and H, with F being in the middle of the receiver, and H as previously stated on the barrel. These are the only options Weaver gives for scope mounting on the 14 and 141, with the back mount (receiver) a number 20A and the front (barrel) mount a 27. Hope this helps some.

The Mid tube just gets the ratio of barrel in front of the gas block back to something closer to an M4 with a 14.5" barrel by putting the extra barrel length where it should be - between the gas block and receiver. This isn't tricky - once you understand what a terrible idea a 16" barrel with a carbine length gas system was.
