At Atlanta State Park, you can fish, boat, water-ski and swim at a designated area (no lifeguard on duty). Ashore, you may walk, study nature, bird, camp, picnic, geocache, and jog or hike along roads, trails and shorelines. Explore hilly park roads on your bicycle.

Trees are the focal point at Atlanta State Park, with 90-foot tall pines and hardwoods studding the shores of Wright Patman Lake. Short leaf pine and white oak grow in the park. Many loblolly pines and other varieties of oak also grow here.
On land, you can hike, go birding or geocaching, study nature, have a picnic or set up camp. In the 80-acre lake, you can swim, boat or paddle, and fish. Rent one of our historic cabins, or reserve our group hall or pavilion for your next group gathering. Check the Events page for more information.
Park History. Atlanta State Park sits on 1,475 acres along the southern shores of Wright Patman Lake in Cass County. The lake is in northeast Texas, southwest of Texarkana. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers oversaw the impoundment of the Sulphur River to create the lake.
Swimming Area Closed. June 12, 2024 - The swimming area is closed due to high-water levels in Lake Wright Patman. Check back for updates.
Atlanta State Park is located in central Cass County and is 10 miles northwest of U.S. 59. Near by towns include Atlanta, Queen City and Texarkana. To reach the park travel from Texarkana south on U.S. 59 to FM 96, drive northwest to FM 1154, from here travel north for 2 miles to Park Road 42.
