Volga River State Recreation Area is a 5,700-acre (2,300 ha) state recreation area in Fayette County, Iowa, United States, near the city of Fayette. The park is located in a forested and hilly region along the Volga River and also includes the 138-acre (56 ha) Frog Hollow Lake. The recreation area is a popular site for boating and fishing.
As of the 2020 census, the city population was 1,256. [2] It was named after the Marquis de la Fayette, French hero of the American Revolutionary War. Fayette is the home of Upper Iowa University, a small private college. The Volga River State Recreation Area is located just north of Fayette, and many other parks and natural areas are nearby.
The state's congressional map is roughly divided by quadrants in the northeast, northwest, southeast, and southwest sections of Iowa. The districts were represented by three Republicans and one Democrat from the 2014 elections to the 2020 elections , with a brief period of Democratic control after the 2018 elections.
