The present Saint Ignatius Church is the fifth such church to be built in San Francisco. In June 1939, Maud Lee Flood donated the home she had shared with her deceased husband at 2222 Broadway. During WWII, boys were allowed to join the lower school. In 1950, the school purchased the neighboring Grant house for $150,000.
