The blast furnace allows you to mass-smelt bars at once. When ores hit the container, the game will check if you have all of the materials needed, and if you do, smelt the bars for you. Mithril ore takes 2 coal to smelt; adamant takes 3; runite takes 4 (outside of the Blast Furnace, the coal requirement doubles).

for example with blast furnace, if you want to be "efficient" you need to do 0 tick banking. a really easy way to do this is with resizeable because you barely have to move your mouse to click out of the bank after withdrawing your ores etc. considering it's a fairly tight timing window this is pretty big for consistency. example video below

Ironman Blast Furnace. I am a low level (43 smithing, 100k cash) ironman looking to work on getting my smithing up. The blast furnace charge of 8k/72k per hour seems too high to be worth it until 60. But I don't really know, I am a noob reading the wiki. I plan on using steel/iron in giant's foundry to get 60.

You need multiple people to effectively run the blast furnace on non blast furnace world's. This used to be the only way to do it and so you'd pay a clan who hired workers to run each element of the blast furnace while you trained. The "minigame" essentially just comprises of pumping, cycling and filling, and repairing pipes.

Blast furnace is definitely worth it for pretty much anything you’re doing. I think the big benefit it provides is that only 1/2 coal is required so if mithril requires 4 coal and 1 mithril ore- at blast furnace it requires 2 coal and 1 mithril ore. So it leaves room for profit. Blast furnace: pros and cons. Pros: Excellent money making ...
