Częstochowa railway station is one of two major railway stations in Częstochowa, Silesian Voivodeship, Poland, the other station being Częstochowa Stradom.Since 2015 it has been operating as a “P” (premium) category station in the PKP classification.
In its early years, the train linked Kraków and Wrocław in Poland with Berlin and Hamburg in Germany. It was named after the Wawel , former residence of the Polish kings in Kraków. [ 1 ] Since 2022, the eastern terminus of the line has been located further east at Przemyśl , a short distance away from the Ukrainian border.

During World War II, 5 locomotives were taken over by Germany and used as the 55 61 series, with numbers from 55,6131 to 55,6135. [2] After the war, only one locomotive, Tp109-3, remained in Poland, serving in the Kraków Directorate of PKP under the new number Tp109-1, until it was scrapped in Jasło in 1963. [ 2 ]
