FM 407 begins in Wise County, at US 81 / US 287 in New Fairview. [2] The route travels east into Denton County and into the city of Justin; FM 407 was the primary access route between the former US 77 and farms that were part of the original Icarian Colony, where the city of Justin now sits. [3]
SH 18 was one of the first 25 Texas state routes proposed on June 21, 1917, overlaid on the Albany-Bronco Highway. [2] The original proposal was a route through the Southern Plains from Bronco in Yoakum County to Lubbock, then southeast to Albany. On December 20, 1917, SH 18 had extended southeast to Cisco and replaced SH 36 to Waco. [3]

SH 40 was rerouted over a portion of SH 37 between Rusk and southeast of Lufkin, while the old route was either cancelled or transferred to SH 37. On May 22, 1933, SH 40 Spur was created to Baxter. [9] On January 24, 1938, SH 40 Loop was designated to Keltys. [10] On April 19, 1938, SH 40 Bypass was designated from SH 40 to SH 114. [11]
On September 27, 1985, Texas State Highway Loop 549 was designated as a bypass of SH 70 in Sweetwater and was signed, but not designated, as SH 70, and the old route was signed as a business route. On June 21, 1990, SH 70 was designated on Loop 549, and the old route of SH 70 became a business route, cancelling Loop 549.
SH 107 begins at an intersection with Interstate 2/US Route 83 in Mission and travels north through the center of town. It reaches an intersection with the old routing of US 83 and Texas State Highway 495 in Mission before exiting to the north.
