The Sandman was one of DC's early "Mystery Men," and DC has used the name for several different characters. He was a member of the Justice Society. His shtick was to run around in a gasmask with a sleeping gas gun. Originally the character has no special abilities, but he was retroactively given the ability to have prophetic dreams.

Der Zyklon is a fictional DC Comics character created by Roy Thomas and first appeared in All-Star Squadron #45 (May 1985). As noted in that issue, the word zyklon is German for cyclone. Zyklon was given the power to move at superhuman speeds by scientists of the Third Reich, and assisted Baron Blitzkrieg, in stealing the Liberty Bell.

Val-El is a character in the DC Universe who appears in Superman stories. He first appears as a statue in Superboy #136 (January 1967), with his background being explored in Krypton Chronicles #1-2 (September–October 1981). Val-El was a Kryptonian explorer and member of the House of El.
