John's Pass boardwalk. On September 24, 1848, a strong hurricane struck the West Coast of Florida. It separated the barrier island on the coast and created a waterway known today as John's Pass. John Levique, along with Joseph Silva, was the one who discovered it and named it after himself, and it is now a federally owned canal.
This boardwalk is quite popular, notably with people from Pinellas County and Hillsborough County, Florida. Popular features include Hubbard's Marina, Hooters and Bubba Gump Shrimp Co. There are also various other stores and restaurants on this boardwalk; and the John's Pass Bridge is right next to this location. [4]

The John's Pass Bridge is a twin-span double-leaf bascule bridge that crosses the John's Pass, connecting Madeira Beach and Treasure Island, Florida. The bascule bridge carries Gulf of Mexico Boulevard, part of SR 699. The southbound span of the Johns Pass Bridge was built in 2008, and the northbound span was built in 2010. [4] [5]

Adjacent to the beach and comprising the center of the village are a boulevard and boardwalk that run along a quarter mile stretch of Lakeside Ave. The main summer port of the Winnipesaukee Flagship Company's MS Mount Washington is located on the boulevard. A large public dock is also evident at this popular stop for boaters on Lake Winnipesaukee.
