The Pathfinder Club, or simply Pathfinders, is a department of the Seventh-day Adventist Church (SDA), which works specifically with the cultural, social and religious education of children and teens. Children 10 years and older are eligible to become members of the club.
In the Boy Scouts of America, districts or councils may hold a camporee once or twice a year. [5] Typically, the camporee involves patrol-based competitions, with events such as: hiking preparedness, fire building, knot tying, first aid, emergency preparedness, pioneering, citizenship, patrol mystery event (team building), outdoor cooking, camping or orienteering.
The first "Camporee" was in 1961. Camporee grew out of a discussion among cadets who attended the 1960 National Jamboree. That first camporee featured five area troops. The first patch for attending was the 1963 Camporee. Camporee is nominally held the first week in May; however, since 2001, dates are adjusted to around the Academy's schedule.
In the 1980s a new feature was introduced – Guidelines question and answer column written by Madeline Johnson. Another introduction was the "Guide Dog" mascot who first appeared in 1985 at the international Pathfinder camporee in Colorado and since at campmeetings, camporees and conventions where Guide readers congregate. Outside of the club meetings the members participate in church and community service projects, camping, and other outdoor adventure opportunities. The organization also sponsors a triennial international camporee which is a week-long wilderness camping experience. The event typically draws more than 1200 men and boys. [2] [3] [4]

It was originally owned by Central Connecticut Council until the merger with Quinnipiac Council.
