The 89ers baseball team was renamed to Oklahoma RedHawks and moved to AT&T Bricktown Ballpark in 1998. The stadium also hosted various college baseball events, such as Bedlam Baseball between the University of Oklahoma and Oklahoma State University and the Big Eight Conference baseball tournament for more than twenty years. The ballpark opened April 16, 1998 with the RedHawks losing to visiting Edmonton, 6-3, in front of 14,066 fans—the third-largest crowd for an Oklahoma City home opener behind 14,801 in 1992 and 14,488 in 1987. [13] The ballpark's four-game opening weekend attracted the most fans ever for a four-game baseball series in Oklahoma.
