Borders College is a further education institution in the Scottish Borders, Scotland. Its main campus is located in Galashiels . Additionally, the college maintains secondary campuses at Hawick , Tweedbank and Newtown St. Boswells .
The Scottish Borders is one of 32 council areas of Scotland. [3] It is bordered by West Lothian, Edinburgh, Midlothian, and East Lothian to the north, the North Sea to the east, Dumfries and Galloway to the south-west, South Lanarkshire to the west, and the English ceremonial counties of Cumbria and Northumberland to the south.
In 1641, the two colleges at Aberdeen were united by decree of Charles I (r. 1625–49), to form the ‘King Charles University of Aberdeen’. [8] They were demerged after the Restoration in 1661. [8] In 1747 St Leonard's College in St Andrews was merged into St Salvator's College to form the United College of St Salvator and St Leonard. [9]
