Hello everyone, Just checking if anyone has installed a 6.2L Hellcat oil pump on their 5.7 Hemi in their 1500? I was watching a former Hemi tech that indicated this Hellcat pump has a higher psi then the stock 5.7 pump which in turn can help with moving the oil to the cam/lifters. Searched out this pump online up here in Ontario and she at $176 ...
Oil pressure isn't created by the pump. It's created by the clearances in the bearings. Tighter tolerances will create higher pressures, looser tolerances will create lower pressures. By contrast, a high volume oil pump will move (flow) more oil than oem and a high pressure pump. A typical high volume pump will include a heavier and oem spring ...
In regards to the High volume oil pump, WildOne recently posted a video over the past couple of weeks that explained the theory behind the premature lifter failures as an oil pump volume issue, not oil pump pressure issue since the volume is problematic at lower idle pressure rather than a max pressure issue. Based on that, HV pump sure sounds ...
2019. Engine. hemi 5.7. If it's too long to watch, basically some guys who've tried the hellcat pump from the 6.2 (which bolts right up to a 5.7 or a 6.4 without mods) have been getting codes thrown which says "low oil pressure". Turns out the code is just a generic oil pressure code which means the pressure is outside of the expected bounds ...
Removed the oil pan today. The pickup and “filter” looks good, all bolts for the pump are in place. Tomorrow I will either start with checking the pressure relief valve or try to put a small cup of oil under the pickup so it can suck directly from that one and then crank the engine. Re the pressure relief valve.
If you have a high volumn oil pump, then the Johnsons are the way to go,if you have the stock oil pump,i'd avoid them,as the stock pump doesn't have enough volumn to offset the extra leak the Johnsons create.Been a few guys burn up bearings using the Johnson lifters with a stock 5.7/6.4 oil pump. The 6.4 and 6.2 get such better pumps because 1) they are actual purpose built performance engines (sorry folks, the 5.7 from the factory is not lol) and 2) as actual performance engines they have piston oil squirters which require the extra oomph to move oil through the galleries and those too. Putting a better performing oil pump will never ...
Engine. Hemi 5.7. Dealing with the bolt without dropping the pan: 1500 4x4 5.7 oil pickup bolt install, the easy way. So I’m in the midst of a cam/lifter/oil-pump swap on my truck. Everything I could find about changing the oil pump on the 4x4s is ridiculous: drop the front axle, drop the cross member, raise the engine, remove the oil pickup ...
Ram Year. 2016. Engine. 5.7. My truck threw a CEL with P1524 - oil pressure out of range - camshaft advance/retard disabled. 30 minutes later heading home on the freeway, oil pressure light came on, pressure gauge was scary low. Shut it off, checked oil, little low. Started it back up and pressure was decent but never got over 27 psi, gradually ...
I have a 2015 Ram 1500 with the 3.0L EcoDiesel. Just had the oil changes at 9,000 miles and at 9,200 miles the engine started developing a slight knock (It sounded similar to a lifter or rocker arm tapping). Oil Pressure was fine and within a mile the engine began knocking considerably louder...
