Stony Plain Road is an Expressway until it reaches Anthony Henday Drive. Soon after entering the city limits, the westbound and eastbound traffic lanes separate into two separate one-way streets. Stony Plain Road at this time refers only to the westbound street (101 Avenue), while eastbound traffic becomes 100 Avenue.
100 Avenue is a major arterial road in central and west Edmonton. The road starts as Stony Plain Road (Highway 16A), and as it approaches Anthony Henday Drive it separates into westbound and eastbound one-way streets. The westbound lanes occupy Stony Plain Road, while the eastbound street becomes 100 Avenue.
