Duwa (دوا ) also known as Ad Dawār is a village of Basrah Governorate in southern Iraq. It is on the east side of the Shatt Al-Arab River and near the Iranian border. [ 1 ] [ 2 ]
Al-Qurna District (Arabic: قضاء القرنة) is a district of Basra Governorate, Iraq. Its seat is the town of Al-Qurna. The West Qurna Field is located in the district. The Iraqi marsh lands, which are known as the Garden of Eden, surround this area in the lower part of the Mesopotamian basin.
Historical photographs of Basra reveal that the city was once surrounded by walls, including a distinct fortification at the entrance to Al-Ashar River. Inside these walls stood Gardalan Castle, constructed in 1677. The Shatt al-Arab offered additional natural defense for the fortress, while the surrounding land was primarily agricultural.
