"Six Feet Under" was first originally released through Eilish's SoundCloud on June 23, 2016, as her second single. [1] [2] It was later released as a standalone single for digital download and streaming by Darkroom and Interscope Records on November 17, 2016. [3] The track was written and produced by Eilish's brother, Finneas O'Connell.
The episode previews for the first and fifth seasons feature the Six Feet Under title theme, while the other seasons feature the Rae & Christian remix version of the title theme. Music supervision for the entire run of the series was provided by Gary Calamar and Thomas Golubic, who were also credited as producers for the two soundtrack albums.
