Edward Alexander Holton (August 28, 1835 – January 29, 1906) was a United States soldier who was awarded his nation's highest honor for valor, the U.S. Medal of Honor, for his gallantry while fighting with the 6th Vermont Infantry during the American Civil War.

The 15th Vermont Infantry Regiment was a nine-months' infantry regiment in the Union Army during the American Civil War. It served in the eastern theater, predominantly in the Defenses of Washington, from October 1862 to August 1863. It was a member of the 2nd Vermont Brigade. [1] [2]
The 5th Vermont Infantry Regiment was a three years' infantry regiment in the Union Army during the American Civil War. Organized at St. Albans and mustered in September 16, 1861, it served in the Army of the Potomac (AoP). [1] It departed Vermont for Washington, DC, September 23, 1861.

Josiah O. Livingston (February 3, 1837 – July 23, 1917) was an officer in the Union Army and a Medal of Honor recipient for his actions in the American Civil War. Livingston joined the 9th Vermont Infantry as a first lieutenant in June 1862 and became regimental adjutant a year later. He was promoted to captain in November 1864.
The 9th Vermont Infantry was one of the first units to enter Richmond, Virginia, in April 1865. [5] The regiment was mustered into Federal service on July 9, 1862, at Brattleboro, Vermont. [6] It was engaged in, or present at, Harper's Ferry, Newport Barracks, Chaffin's Farm, Fair Oaks and the Fall of Richmond. [6]
