In a tweet from July 2024, Drew Daniel of electronic music duo Matmos described a fictional music genre he encountered in a dream entitled "hit em". Recounted to him by a nondescript woman in the dream, the genre is a type of electronic music "with super crunched out sounds" in a 5/4 time signature with a tempo of 212 beats per minute.
"Last Night I Had the Strangest Dream" (also known as "The Strangest Dream") is a song written by American folk singer-songwriter Ed McCurdy in 1950. Due to McCurdy's connection with fellow musicians, it was common in repertoires within the folk music community.
By the late 1960s, McCurdy was forced to retire with health problems. In 1980, two of his compositions, "Last Night I Had the Strangest Dream" and "King's Highway", as recorded by his old friend Josh White Jr., became the official theme songs for the Peace Corps and VISTA, respectively. [4] [5]
