Joseph Wright Alsop V (October 10, 1910 – August 28, 1989) was an American journalist and syndicated newspaper columnist from the 1930s through the 1970s. He was an influential journalist and top insider in Washington from 1945 to the late 1960s, often in conjunction with his brother Stewart Alsop .
Alsop was born on April 2, 1876, in Middletown, Connecticut, to parents Joseph Wright Alsop III (1838–1891) and Elizabeth Winthrop (Beach) Alsop (1847–1889). [1] Alsop IV was a scion of the Alsop family of Middletown, which included Continental Congress delegate John Alsop, author Richard Alsop, and New York governor John Alsop King.
Progress Software was co-founded by several MIT graduates, including Joseph W. Alsop, Clyde Kessel, and Chip Ziering in 1981. [4] Originally called Data Language Corporation (DLC), the company changed its name to Progress Software in 1987, the same name of its main product, Progress.
