GMA Network (formerly known as Republic Broadcasting System, GMA Radio-Television Arts and GMA Rainbow Satellite Network) is commonly referred to as the Kapuso Network in reference to the outline of the company's logo; the branding was introduced on October 27, 2002 during an episode of its now-defunct Sunday noontime variety show, SOP.
Gilberto "Jimmy" Roy Duavit Jr. (born October 16, 1963) [1] is a Filipino businessman, philanthropist, producer, and writer. He is the president and chief executive officer of GMA Network Inc., one of the largest media networks in the Philippines.

GMA Network was the first television network in the Philippines to broadcast GMA-7 and GMA News TV-11 in standard definition (SD) format with a 4:3 aspect ratio, similar to TV channels in European countries, although the content had been stretched horizontally from its original 4:3 ratio.
As part of the take over, the name of the TV station was changed to GMA Network (RBS, Inc. became GMA Network Inc. in 1996) and relaunched in 1975 as GMA Radio-Television Arts. [ 3 ] [ 9 ] In 1976, DZXX was relaunched as DWLS in the FM band based on the initials of his wife, Loreto Stewart.
