The Northwest Suburban Conference is an athletic conference for all northwest suburban high schools of Minneapolis, Minnesota. On August 30, 2024, Maple Grove announced that they will be switching from the Northwest Suburban Conference to join the Lake Conference in the fall of 2025.
The original high school building became Sandburg Middle School. Designed for 1,000 students, the new school opened with an enrollment of 848. A major addition in 1959 expanded capacity to 1,800 students. Despite the opening of Coon Rapids High School in 1963, enrollment at Anoka High continued to rise, reaching 2,082 students by 1971. [3]
Coon Rapids Middle School [16] is also located in the city, sharing a parking lot with the high school. The private Catholic school, Epiphany, [ 17 ] is another school that is within the city. Cross of Christ Lutheran School is a Pre-K-8 grade school of the Wisconsin Evangelical Lutheran Synod in Coon Rapids. [ 18 ]
Anoka-Ramsey Community College Coon Rapids Campus is located on the banks of the Mississippi River twenty miles (32 km) north of downtown Minneapolis at 11200 Mississippi Blvd. NW, in Coon Rapids, Minnesota. The Cambridge Campus is located just off west Highway 95 on the Rum River at 300 Spirit River Dr. S, Cambridge.
