Occupying 97,814 square miles (253,348 km 2), the state of Wyoming is the 10th largest state in the country. It is the sixth largest state to not have an ocean coastline. Despite being landlocked, Wyoming does contain islands; the state contains 713.16 square miles (1,847 km 2) of water, which is 0.72% of the state's total area.
